Finger knitting for beginners

Your fingers act as pegs to make a narrow knitted cord.

Gather and work

Weave yarn alternately in front and behind four fingers, then reverse across them to give one loop on each. Repeat for a second row of loops. Lift each lower loop over the upper loop and fingertip.

First project

Make 20 rows, keeping the live loops on your fingers or transferring them to a holder during a break. At the end pass the tail through all four loops.

Keep the work even

The cord opens wider when stretched; measure after relaxing it. Use a soft strand and take breaks if fingers feel restricted by the wraps.
