Macramé knots for beginners
A square knot alternates two half knots around central filler cords.
Gather and work
Mount two folded cords to create four strands. Move the left cord over the two middle fillers and under the right cord; bring the right behind the fillers and through the left loop. Tighten. Reverse left/right for the second half.
First project
Make ten square knots and measure the finished length and consumption of each working strand. Use that sample to choose cutting lengths.
Keep the work even
Repeating the same half twists into a spiral. Keep both central fillers straight and alternate halves for a flat square-knot band.
