Left handed knitting
A left-handed knitter may use conventional needle direction or mirror the stitch direction; choose one approach consistently.
Work the technique
For conventional direction, move stitches from left needle to right while tensioning yarn with whichever hand feels comfortable. For mirrored direction, move stitches right to left and mirror the physical steps.
Try it on a sample
Work a 20-stitch garter sample in your chosen direction. Mark the beginning edge so the chart reading direction stays consistent.
Check and recover
Mirroring reverses slanted decreases and cable crossings. A chart must be read from the physical starting edge; switch ssk and k2tog when preserving the original visual slant in a mirrored pattern.
