Cotton, acrylic and wool compared
Compare fibre behaviour and the actual care band before swapping yarns.
Cotton versus acrylic
Cotton has little natural elasticity and can make clear, absorbent cloths. Acrylic is a synthetic fibre found in many washable yarns, with heat-sensitive finishing. Neither name guarantees one gauge or washing instruction.
Wool versus alpaca
Crimped wool gives useful spring and recovery. Alpaca commonly gives more drape with less rebound; a long heavy garment needs a hanging-sample test.
Linen versus bamboo viscose
Linen is flax bast fibre; bamboo-labelled viscose is regenerated cellulose. Compare washed softness, drape and edge recovery rather than assuming plant origins produce the same fabric.
