Yarn storage and organisation
Group yarn by fibre, weight and dye lot, and label each container so the right supplies are easy to find.
Inventory
Record full label composition, length per ball, remaining grams, lot and physical location. Keep partial balls with a readable copy of the band.
Protect the supply
Put clean, dry yarn away from sunlight, damp floors and food. Use closed containers for animal fibres and inspect newly acquired yarn before mixing it into the stash.
Plan from leftovers
Weigh a partial ball and convert its remaining mass using the band ratio. Reserve enough of the same lot for visible sections; assign tiny leftovers to swatches, seams or small motifs.
