Make yarn pompoms and fringe
Wrap, tie and trim yarn to make a pompom; folded strands make fringe when anchored through an edge loop.
Pompom
Wrap many layers around a card or pompom tool. Pass a strong tie through the centre and knot it firmly before cutting both looped sides. Fluff and trim to a round shape, preserving the tie tails for attachment.
Fringe
Cut equal lengths twice the desired finished fringe plus attachment allowance. Fold a group in half, pull the fold through an edge loop with a hook and draw the loose ends through the fold. Tighten evenly.
Secure attachment
Sew the pompom tie through substantial fabric in several directions. Tug every loose fringe group and trim only after the edge is flat. Keep loose detachable decorations away from small children.
