Puff crochet stitch
Several elongated loops close together into a soft raised US puff.
Counted practice swatch
Make 15 sc as a foundation. Practise replacing stitch 8 with one puff; the finished row still contains 15 stitch positions.
Work the repeat
At the selected stitch, [yarn over, insert, yarn over, pull up a tall loop] 3 times (7 loops). Yarn over, draw through all 7 loops, then ch1 to secure. Work sc in all other stitches.
Read the fabric
The securing ch1 is not an additional position in this sample. On the next row work into the top closure, not both the closure and securing chain.
