Knitting bind off methods
A basic bind off passes one stitch over the next. A stretchy rib edge needs enough yarn between loops.
Work the technique
Knit two stitches. Lift the first over the second and off the needle. Knit one more and pass the older stitch over; repeat. For a purl section, purl the next stitch before passing the older one over.
Try it on a sample
Bind off 20 stitches in the fabric pattern. Before cutting, compare the edge width with the row beneath.
Check and recover
If the edge narrows, undo and use a larger right needle or relax the movement. A decorative extra yarn-over changes the edge and should be tested separately.
